The news of the Germans was not pretty music to the Britishs' ears. The sirens went off for the first time for it was a false alarm. After the first German bombing the british had a fair idea of what they were up against. There were many, many wondrous inventions and creations made by both sides; but the most amazing one was a British invention, and it was called the radar. At the time the radar was a hue machine with lots of screens and buttons; but what it was made to do would change the blitz as it was known forever!
The radar was basically a really big map that was connected to lots of transmitters around london and even further out than that. A dot would show up on a big screen and it was a bit like saying- "Hey, we are Germanys best bombers and we are here to destroy your city!" Well maybe that is a bit of a exaggeration but still it was like that.
Although the blitz has bee thought of as a battle between the british and the germans- but if you are one of those people then you have a lot of research to catch up on. Although the germans fought alone, the british were lucky enough to have many people on their side. They had Australia, Italy and even New Zealand. Sadly Canada isn't quite the same.
